by Jonas Lundberg Visit Date:November 6, 2009 Room: Service: Facilities: Location: "A big warning for this resort. The pictures of the internet-site shows a much better, tidier resort than in reality. We arrived from a hotel with perfect service to this scrap-yard. The staff were not as helpful as you should expect- very lazy. The water in both the swimmmingpools were dirty. The surroundings were not tidy instead it looked like no one had done any repair for a long time. Other guests which we met had the same comments about the resort. It is a shame to call this resort NIRVANA. The room-rate is charged about double of what it´s worth." |

The booking went very smoothly, no complaints, March 2, 2009 by Mary Lovatt Visit Date:February 23, 2009 "Wonderful, the bungalow was cool inside on the hottest day and had everything in it that we needed. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful.
We spent many hours at the pool, drinking coconut shakes. The staff arranged the hire of mopeds for us, and a snorkelling trip. They also advised us where to go to ride the elephants. What we loved most was that there were no signs telling us what we weren t allowed to do - very refreshing. 10 out of 10." |

Excellent. I would use Sawadee.com again. The staff have been very helpful., June 3, 2008 by Francis Robert Walmsley Visit Date:May 29, 2008 "The Nirvana is an isolated resort set in it s own jungle landscape. I was extremely impressed with the room. It was spacious and had a fantastic view of Bang Bao Bay. The facilities were excellent too. I particularly liked the cliff and jungle walks - although you need to make sure you wear plenty of insect repellent if you brave the jungle path.
My wife thought the resort was a little too isolated, which can be a bit off putting. There appeared to be more staff than guests. The beaches are tiny too and I wouldn t suggest swimming in the sea there as there are lots of rocks on one side and the staff clear the beach of litter from Bang Bao Bay on the other beach every morning. I would also advise taking a can of raid as a legion of ants used the room as a throughfare during our stay and took a liking to the toothpaste!
On the whole I would recommend this resort for an isolated, quiet and romantic break. Hiring transport is a must!" |
Very efficient and alert. Requested changes were swiftly and without discussion or extra charge incorporated., May 12, 2008 by Martinus Meulendijks Visit Date:May 3, 2008 "Nirvana is a small hotel that advertises peace and serenity. That is exactly what they bring. The large hotel rooms are very tastefully decorated with warm natural materials. Everything (airco, hot water, DVD etc) worked fine. The grounds of the hotel and its surrounding are beautiful. Two nice pools. As there are only 11 rooms in the hotel there is a quiet and cosy atmosphere at the pool. The restaurant serves excellent dishes in, again, a beautiful environment. Hotel personel is very friendly and competent.
Nirvana is a delicious place to relax and to enjoy nature.
Don t expect any nightlife or loud entertainment. You will be able to finish your book! We enjoyed the jungle hike, went out with a boat to nice beaches at small islands. Despite that it is sandwiched in between the sea at two sides, Nirvana has no possibility to swim in the sea directly from the hotel.
Nirvana is a delicious environment if you are looking for a quiet relaxing time far from the maddening crowd
We booked the special tarrif in the low season period. We had really a lot of value for our money. Hope to go back." |
Excellent, May 6, 2008 by Mr Roger Boot Visit Date:April 20, 2008 "We arrived by boat in Bang bao from Koh Maak - The arrangment was to phone the hotel on arrival at the pier to be picked up - they would send a car to meet us - fine.
When we arrived, we phoned....the hotel phone wouldn t work! The up shot of this was that I left my wife standing with all our luggage while I proceeded to walk for about 2km down a rough dirt track (that no taxi wanted to go). It was extremely hot and when I arrived, the lady behind the desk simply said phone, no work - I give you my mobile number . -If you want to stay at Nirvana and need to be picked up ENSURE YOU HAVE THE RECEPTIONISTS MOBILE NUMBER FIRST!!!!! - Otherwise d be prepared for a long walk!!!
Providing you don t mind the mosquitoes (there was an outbreak of Dengue fever while we were there) and the tiny ants (they didn t bite) sharing your bed, it could be considered quite nice.
For someone who perhaps just wants to stay a couple of nights to chill out away from the hustle and bustle, it could be appealing.
Bang boa fishing village isn t far away - it reqires either a very slow bumpy ride on the dirt track courtesy of the hotel transport or a stroll along a debris stewn beach/building site and through the local s back yards to reach the pier.
The LAN internet was ok (when it worked) and the dvd/tv/audio system in the room was good.
Food was average - beware, though, that if you ask for a second cup of coffee at breakfast you will be charged 50 bahts a time which appears on your bill when you check out.
A much better alternative place to stay for the same cost is the Nisa Cabana which is close by. " |
We were not disappointed with this service. It saved us some money as opposed to booking direct and everything was as advertised. No problems at all. We d definitely use this service again., April 29, 2008 by David Gurganus Visit Date:April 19, 2008 "This is a great place to stay if, like us, you re looking for solitude and a relaxing atmosphere. Our room was fantastic and was more than adequate for our week s stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They were able to book and pre-pay charters for us that wouldn t accept credit cards. The restaurant (Tantra) is fabulous. We tried to sample each of their local dishes (ask for Thai spicy) and were delighted each time. We ll stay here again if we re able to return to Koh Chang." |
Great., March 5, 2008 by Anders Croon Visit Date:February 17, 2008 "Great hotel. We really enjoyed our stay at the Nirvana Resort, Koh Chang. The service and the restaurant was perfect and so was the bungalows too. We will hopefully come back. " |
The booking service was efficient and easy to use., February 18, 2008 by Anthony Scott Visit Date:February 1, 2008 "The resort was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. It is of the beaten track and one does need a scooter or a car to move around. The beach front studio was big and inviting with a balcony which overlooked the port. The food was great and the service was brilliant. We had a minor problem with the restroom but we got moved to a another studio. The cleanliness could have been better. The WiFi did not work in either of our rooms but it was functional at the reception. All in all, it was a lovely stay and we would definately return if given the opportunity." |
NO problems with Sawadee., February 3, 2008 by sheila petersen Visit Date:January 27, 2008 "We are a family of five who stayed at nirvana resort in january 2008 - We stayed for five nights, and really had a good time. The children loved boths swimming pools (the rock pool is very deep - more than 2 meter). We had a beautiful view over the sea from our beachfront villa, but you cant swim at the small beach: the water is not clean and there is a lot of broken glass.
The food in the restaurant is very good, but there is room for improvements on the breakfast.
The little fisherplace Bang Bao - which is only fifthteen minuts walk from the resort is a really charming place to spend the nights - very good seafood restaurants :-)and not so many tourists (remember a flashlight for the walk cause it is a pretty dark walk.)
Remember to see the sundown from the rockwalk at the resort it is a very beautiful view.
The staff at the resort is very friendly and effective. We had some problems with the water the day after we arrived and they had someone to fix it very quickly.
Overall - Nirvana is perfect if you want a nice and quiet stay with few other tourists. " |
Fine - easy and payment simple & everything worked as booked, January 9, 2008 by Michael Snell Visit Date:December 20, 2007 "In a beautiful location at the end of the island 10mins footpath walk from a fishing village. Restaurant food exremely good & well presented by pleasant staff. Apart from food menus there was no other info in the room re trips etc. Reception never seemed to smile!" |
First class, efficient and ready to fullfill extraordinary wishes. Thank you, made an excellent job, May 6, 2007 by Herbert Kunz Visit Date:April 22, 2007 "A wonderful get away. You are really away from everything, so you might enjoy your stay in the jungle. And whithout private vehicle you are almost lost in the jungle. So far, accomodation is excellent, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Some of the offered facilities did not work, but the friendlyness of the Nirvana-team made us forget some umconveniencies." |
Works very smoothly - as usually., January 29, 2007 by Kirsten Holst-Eklund Visit Date:January 9, 2007 "Indeed a wonderful resort. Some 12 bungalows and densly populated although we visitied in the peak-season. Walkingdistance - 15 minutes - to the Bao Bang pier with nice restaurants. We filed a complaint when Hotelmanager invited her female Thai-friends with Swedish(?)spouses/noisy children to the Pool-area!!!" |
